And I simply DO NOT!!!

What I DO KNOW is this: what not to do, both during PT and afterwards when I’m deceivingly “healed;” the gaps within my physical therapy programs that led to my recurring injuries, which I have researched both extensively and exhaustively; the changes in the brain and in the body after one undergoes an ACL injury and an ACL Reconstruction; and the overall timeline of ACL Rehabilitation and what needs to happen in physical therapy BEFORE ending the program and getting cleared by the doctor to return to sport.

Solid confidence needs to be built throughout PT!

What I DO NOT KNOW: how to actually move successfully through an ACL Rehab process. Because I haven’t done it yet! I have had massive mistakes happen during both of my ACL recoveries – – which definitely CAN happen – – YET neither of my physical therapists addressed the full-body stress response and the psychological distress that resulted from those mistakes – – which was an epic fail on both of their parts and it highly contributed to my demise. And why I am where I am today….in the early stages of ACL recovery #3.

MEANING that I have no clue what it takes FOR ME to get through this process successfully. I know the “ideal” situation and what “should” happen – – but it’s very different with a revision ACL Reconstruction, which is what I have. AND the strength and stability of the “surgeried” knee is always compared to the “ non-surgeried” side when moving forward….so what happens when the opposite knee has also experienced a poor ACL rehabilitation and it is just doing it’s best to hold on? As it is for me. It all plays a significant role in my healing and I’m experiencing what that means day by day. It is so clear that both of my knees need proper rehab and retraining, yet what does that look like??? No one really knows so it’s all a matter of easing into everything, timing each progression precisely, and having bulletproof awareness of my entire body and especially my knees, hips, ankles and feet…

I am quite the phenomenon, with my loaded knee history and everything that I have experienced. Seriously, I must work from the ground up with BOTH knees, both hips, both ankles, and both feet, which makes things excessively trickier – – and right now, I am still as close to the bottom as can be. Maybe a few inches above what would be considered “underground” and about a 200-foot-tall-tree of growth to reach. 🌲

The smallest stem, that’s me!!! 🌱

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???????

That I need some lightness in my life right now because this is HARD and very stressful, mentally.
