If you take a quick glance at my post from last week, I spoke about my one-week goal of meditating daily for 10 minutes.

And it went really well!! Today concludes my one-week period so my meditation goal is complete!!! ✅ Though, I still plan to continue from here!

It’s so interesting how the mind and body adapt to those quiet moments. Because the first time you sit still and attempt to meditate, it kinda FEELS LIKE 10 whole minutes of sitting. At least for me it did!!! And it might make you want to open one eye to check the time and see how close to 10 minutes you are….minimal patience and all!

To be honest, I had to fight myself not to open my eyes and look at the clock one week ago!!! I told myself: “it’s only for 10 minutes. Sit tall, breathe slowly and deeply, think about your healing knees (I encourage my knees whenever possible!!), and the alarm will go off soon.” And it did!! Just like I said. 😊⏰

But then each consecutive day after that, the time seemed to get shorter and shorter because the mind and body could dive into that deeper state quicker and quicker. And then 10 minutes of meditation seemed to fly by and I opened my eyes to the sound of the alarm and a renewed sense of peace and calmness. It’s been pretty great!!! 😃 🧘🏾‍♂️

And then it all got me thinking. So many brilliant and successful people really do meditate!!! And they feel the difference and the benefits of a meditation practice in their behavior, their focus, their relationships, their work output and productivity, their patience and ability to harness strong reactions, and in their responses to the outside world, amongst many others.

Cultivating peace of mind and calmness within translates to how well we function and react to others and to the outside world. 🌍

And I’m not here to preach to you or lecture you about starting a meditation practice of your own! If you’re curious about it, I wholeheartedly recommend it!!! And if it doesn’t interest you in the slightest bit, that’s totally okay, too! Whatever your stand is on the matter, I support you.

What I am here to do is to offer a unique perspective because I do love thought-provoking questions and concepts. And this one fascinates me so I’d love to talk it out with you!!

It is said that we have ourself, the body that we inhabit and from which we function. And then we have our Self, the being inside that is doing all the seeing and feeling and thinking and moving and living and breathing and the BEING. And it is this Self that is the true “YOU,” the untouched and most honest, authentic, and potent version of us all.

So, it is said that our Higher Self – – or our Divine Self or our Inner Self – – is lying in wait, inside ourselves, for us to rediscover it. And through meditation, we have the chance to tap into the deepest layer of who we are AND THEN begin to show up in the world as that energetic and divine force that we could be. That we are MEANT to be.

It can be very powerful and very motivating if you believe this to be true and you dedicate yourself to reaching your true Self. OR it can seem like nonsense and possibly made-up, unrealistic, and a wild goose chase to nothing….

A goose chase!!! 😆

So, goose chase or not, I would love to share two quotes with you!! They are only meant to serve as “thinkers,” in order to see if you connect with them in any way. I find them to be very interesting!!

This first quote is one by Emily McDowell. This is what it says:

“Finding yourself is not really how it works. You aren’t a ten-dollar bill 💸 in last winter’s coat pocket….

You are also not lost. Your true Self is right there, buried under cultural conditioning, other people’s opinions, and inaccurate conclusions you drew as a kid that became your beliefs about who you are….

“Finding yourself” is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you.”

Let that soak in for just a moment and see how you feel. Do the words resonate with you? And does this make sense and/or feel true to you? I can answer a definite YES to both of these questions, for real.

And in case you wish to read the quote again, (because it’s so good and so powerful!!!) here it is, conveniently written in full! ⬇️

The second quote that I wish to share with you has a darker edge to it and it still correlates perfectly with the concept of our Inner Self or our Higher Self.

And it says this:

Now, there are many ways to interpret this quote and the meaning behind the quote. Perhaps your mind is running with all the various possibilities as we speak!

From my perspective, one of those possibilities could be looking at the person we are now vs. our Higher Self that is inside. And how close or distant those two forms of being are, when we compare one to the other.

Hmmmm….I’m considering that one…. 😁😆

This Anonymous source seems to be saying that this spirit or Self or Divine Being inside us all, waits to be rediscovered throughout our lives. And if it’s not, once we take our last breath, we finally realize the power inside and what we could have been all this time on Earth. And it is in that realization, when it’s too late to go back and show up as that Inner Self in life, that becomes the definition of hell for this Anonymous person.

I don’t know about you….but it makes me THINK!!!!!! Wow, all the untapped power and potential inside human beings. How do we uncover and discover more of that?? And then use that and become that???

And is that how and why meditation is such a commonality in the lives of successful, elite, and influential leaders and magnetic beings??

MAYBE!!!!!! Interesting, right?? And possibly worth exploring or pondering, at the very least… 🤔

So, I shall leave you with your own thoughts on the matter! And if you’d like to comment or share some insight, PLEASE DO!!!

😃💛⬇️😃🧡⬇️

I’ll just be over here, trying to get into a consistent rhythm with my own daily meditation practice!! I must say, I do love the idea of tappin’ into and rediscovering our Inner Self so that we emerge as a stronger and truer version of ourselves. Moving closer and closer and reconnecting to who we really are…..before the world got it’s hands on us. (!!!!!!) 🌍👐🏽🧐🧘🏻‍♀️✨👁🌍👐🏽🧐🧘🏽✨👁
