For my thought/story of the week, I am going to briefly talk about a very special band….

THE FOO FIGHTERS!!!!!

Ever hear of ‘em?????? 🤨🎶🎵

Most of you are saying YES!!!!! While others may have heard of the name or maybe you know a couple of their greatest hits…..OR perhaps you know absolutely nothing about them at all!!!! 😛

All apply to the question I asked and I will not be offended if you have no idea who these guys are!! I didn’t know a heck of a lot about them, myself – – until this post when I did a bit of research!! Though I HAVE always been a fan of their music! 😃

So, first I wanted to tell you just a few pointers about the band, that I just found out, so we’re all on a similar page. 📖

Thank you, Dave Grohl! We are ready!!!!!! 😃

Lead singer and mastermind behind the creation and music of the the Foo Fighters is the legendary Dave Grohl. Yes, the one in the GIF above, asking “ARE YOU READY?!” 😁

Which, of course we ARE! And as the GIF portrays, the Foo Fighters clearly did a Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden!! I definitely checked it out and it was from about 4 years ago. If you’re interested, please find it on YouTube and see how awesome, humble, funny, down to earth, and talented they all are!

Back to Dave Grohl – – he was actually the drummer for Nirvana with Kurt Cobain in the late 80’s/early 90’s!! And then after the shocking death of Kurt Cobain, causing Nirvana to collapse, Dave Grohl did not join another band as a superstar drummer. Oh, no!!! Instead, his brilliant mind created new music and he moved forward with recording albums for a brand-new band – – which began as a solo project until he jammed with some new friends and they united to form the band still touring today – – 27 years later!!!!! 🤯 (27!!!!!! WHOA!!!)

In any case, when it was just a solo Dave Grohl or when it transitioned to the full band of 6 artists and musicians, the Foo Fighters was the name from the start! Dave Grohl chose it after reading books about UFOs. 👽

Amongst my research, one article says: “The term ‘foo fighter’ was first coined by the US Air Force in World War II, as a term for strange phenomena sighted in the sky, before the term ‘identified flying objects’ became a term.”

Wow, I just realized how many times the author of this particular article wrote the word term in that one sentence……. 😳 Did you notice, too?????? 😆 In any case, here is the resource where I found this foo fighter term🤓 and definition, which inspired the band’s name!!! (Radio X. ‘What does the name “Foo Fighters” mean?’ 4 February 2021, https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.radiox.co.uk/artists/foo-fighters/what-does-foo-fighters-mean/. Accessed 6 October 2021.)

How I would expect Dave G. to react to all of those “terms.” 🤣

AND, something very cool to know is that the Foo Fighters will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, in 2021, which will be Dave Grohl’s SECOND induction ceremony!! Back in 2014, he was inducted with Nirvana band mates so what a double honor for him!!!

Rock on!!!!!!

Now that we all have a little background on this band, I would like to share two things about them! First thing: I actually got to see them in person recently, back in mid-September 2021, with my brother!!

It was the first event, live concert, road trip, public display, all of the above that I had done in about 1.5 years, due to COVID and knee injuries and surgeries! And my brother and I did a fun road trip to Syracuse, NY…

We saw this beautiful RAINBOW in the cotton-candy sky as we drove to Syracuse!

…..to see them in concert!!! And believe it or not, they almost didn’t make their own concert and it was minutes away from being cancelled, after we had driven all the way there!!

The Foo Fighters had just performed in Brooklyn, NY and were supposed to fly in to Syracuse in the early evening for their show in the actual evening. But weather had different plans and their flight was majorly delayed!!!

Thankfully, they flew out of NYC during a window of better weather, made it to the Syracuse amphitheater two hours late, and still performed for 2 hours straight!!! It was a spectacular concert!! Great sound, even though their sound check was rushed, fantastic lighting, super entertaining, and they are just a multi-talented band that performs so well together!! Here are a couple of pics that I took while I was there!

Our lawn seat view!
A close up on the screen that shows Dave Grohl, singing his heart out!! 🎤

Secondly, Dave G. is a born storyteller, he has a way with words, and he’s not afraid to tell his audience of 10’s of thousands of screaming fans something meaningful and personal. He’s truly a remarkable human and skilled artist – – besides being a phenomenal singer, guitarist, and drummer. SO, then came this quote that I discovered and it made me respect him even more!

How true is his quote??? “You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they’ll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.” 💖

That really is one of the magical qualities of music. How a song with it’s melody, rhythm, beat, lyrics, sound, feel…..how it speaks to each person differently. How it can sync with any memories and experiences and take us back to those moments instantly. How it creates a different energy and how it resonates with each person on their own deepest layers, based on how they’re thinking, feeling, being, and what’s happening in their lives. As is beautifully stated in the quote above, by the one-and-only DAVE GROHL!!!

😃😃😃

And that’s all I got for you today!! Some background on the Foo Fighters, a story, a quote…..that can all be summed up to “A concert and 85,000 different reasons!” Good ol’ life-changing-and-enhancing MUSIC!!!! What would we do without it, you know????

For me, I love to train and workout! And music in my ears or in the background is how I zone out, focus, and put all the extra hours of work in as I continue to reach for any and all improvements that are within my reach. Lucky me, I now have this amazing new workout shirt to wear:

FOO FIGHTERS!!!!!

Of course my brother and I needed FF shirts after seeing them in concert! I mean, we finally saw them ONCE after they’ve been touring for 27 years!!!! (I can’t get over that, can you tell? 🙃) BIG DEAL!!!

In closing, I hope the power of music lights you up, inspires you, soothes your soul, makes you wanna dance, and always fills your life with such joy, rhythm, and dimension. Whether it’s the Foo Fighters, or any band or artist that moves you, may you allow yourself to be swept away by music…in all of the 85,000 different ways it can touch your soul. 😊❤️🎶✨❤️🎵✨❤️🎶😊
