You guys, I received a STUPENDOUS gift from the holidays!!

Okay, I received quite a few really excellent gifts from the holidays, from my wonderful Mom, Stepdad, aunt and uncle (I mean, my Fun-cle!! π), brother and sister-in-law, and family-clients (clients that I work with who have become a part of my family)!!! I definitely feel spoiled, that is for sure! And filled with such gratitude.β¨ π β¨π β¨πβ¨
Instead of telling you about ALL of the lovely gifts, I am going to share my story about one of them: I received a fabulous pair of socks. π§¦
Socks???, you say. What’s so “stupendous” about socks????
WELL, the message on the socks is empowering and awesome AND it spoke to a recently completed “feat of strength,” (going back to my Bestivus/Festivus post last week!! π) that I attempted that same morning!!

Therefore, TIMING + INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE = STUPENDOUS!!!
πππΌπ
Wanna see?????
Here they are! The pair of socks from my Aunt Carol, who told me that as soon as she saw them in the store, she knew that they were meant to be mine:

And then the best part:

There is even a superhero being with a CAPE, giving the “rock on!!” sign…

AND I love that it says “LOL, made you smile.” Because I definitely did smile!!!

Go ‘Primitives by Kathy!’ These socks are great!!! πΊ (Thank you, my beautiful Aunt Carol!!! π€β₯οΈ)
Well, I LOVE quotes/podcasts/movies that inspire and motivate and YES do these socks embody both of these feelings!! I mean, who doesn’t feel energized at the thought of being a fierce presence and conquering the world?!?!?! π And then wearing socks that remind you of all of the conquering that you will be doing! π
Just receiving a pair of socks like these would be a feel-good moment and even a moment of verve at the thoughts of what should be on the “conquering the world” list!! For me, it definitely was that.
In addition to THAT, was an even deeper awareness and something that I would love to share with YOU!!
First, you must hear the story, of course!!!
So, on December 20th, 2020, I received a package at my door. Rather, a very large and a very heavy package that contained my brand new spin bike that I had purchased for myself! Little by little, I have been adding to my home gym set-up and this bike’s arrival completes my gym space for the time-being!
In any case, my Mom helped me “gently” roll this large rectangular box down our sidewalk, up two stairs, and into the house. Mind you, the package itself weighed approximately 125 pounds. INTENSE!! And now it was inside the house – CHECK!!!! But somehow it had to get down into the basement – – OOF!!!

I set the box down, managing to smash and take out the sliding closet doors in the process because it slid on the floor and I couldn’t stop it fast enough……OOOPS, not good π….. and then I started to unpack the bike parts. There were loose pieces that I just carried down the stairs, no problem! But the main frame of the bike, that had the bike seat and the wheel??? Well, that was still about 90-100 pounds and not something that I could just carry over my shoulder and down the stairs, you know??
So the debate became, do I try to get it down into the basement and assemble it myself OR do I find someone to bribe or pay to do it for me!! My Mom, not wanting me to do anything foolish and hurt my ACL-missing knee or break any bones trying to maneuver this thing down stairs, decided that I should wait and either ask my uncle or my cousins OR call up an equipment store and see if I could pay them to do this for me. I agreed, since moving this main frame was a definite struggle and not easy for me by any means. So, we left it near the front door, cleaned and vacuumed the area, and decided to wait until the next day to choose who to ask for some assistance.
THEN……

I woke on December 21st, at 5am, thinking, “I AM GOING TO FIGURE THIS OUT!!” I should be able to do this myself, you know?? This led me to go downstairs, assess the situation, and begin to strategize the mission. I told myself if I felt any tweaks in my knees, I was not going to take any chances!! But if I did not feel any tweaks and the mission was going to plan, I was going for it!!!!!!
I put the main frame on two towels and I dragged it down the hallway like a reverse sled pull…..

…I deadlifted the bike up the mini stair you see in the photo and I slid the bike to the basement stairs….

This was where things could go sideways!! I told myself that I was not allowed to fall down the stairs!!! I also told myself that this was possible – “I can do this!!” So, I made the bike go first. I had a hold of the heavier side of the bike under the wheel, I started to slide it down the stairs….and my butt-scooch method worked perfectly!!! I sat at the top of the stairs, lowered the bike a couple of stairs, held it in place as I butt-scooched down one stair, and kept going until the bike was on the basement floor!!! The duration of the mission took only 15 minutes. No mishaps, no injuries, no falling down the stairs – – you better believe that I cheered!! π₯³

I placed the bike where I wanted it, unwrapped all of the parts, and began assembling the bike, piece by piece.

About one hour later, I was staring at my fully-assembled spin bike, ready for action!!!!!!

A few hours later, my Uncle Tony and Aunt Carol came over with a very generous gift, including my fabulous socks!! And I thought, “well, I already conquered something that I initially didn’t think that I could, so what else can I conquer? What else is possible??”
I tell you this story because it is so easy to lose sight of our capabilities at the time of a challenge, no matter what that challenge happens to be at the moment, (or what that challenge happens to be for an entire YEAR…) For me, I totally gave up and believed that there was no possible way for me to handle this bike mission on my own….and yet, I found a way!!!!
Now, I am not saying to do everything yourself and struggle and never ask for help!!! Please be smart, always listen to your body, recognize when something really does require another hand or another perspective to solve a dilemma, and absolutely ask for help.

Yet, if YOU and your self-created limitations are the ones standing in the way of what is possible for you???? I suggest you get out of your own way and let the magic happen!!! There’s nothing like the feeling of accomplishing something that you never expected yourself to be able to do!
I find my story to be extra-relevant because we are so close to a brand new year!! And even though the chance of things in our world changing drastically at the strike of midnight on January 1st, 2021 is slim to none, just the mere thought of the fresh start of a new year often brings feelings of empowerment, joy, hope, and a flood of new possibilities. Just like my new fantastic socks!!! The beginning of a year can be an invitation to set new goals, create a new plan, and/or develop new habits that will benefit our future visions.
Maybe at this point in the game, the typical “New Years Resolution” ideas haven’t been set, born, or even thought upon. Perhaps there is a huge hesitancy to prep our mindset for a victorious year, knowing how unpredictable, mind-boggling, and intensely-challenging 2020 has been.
All is understandably so.
Therefore, I am going to leave you with a little bit of motivation and inspiration to speak to your inner voice and your inner creativity that knows more than you realize. Maybe we can take these thoughts into the new year with us and allow the potential within us all to lead us forward.

#1) Muhammad Ali has this powerful quote:
“The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.”
What are our dreams and the targets we can envision before us? And what would it take to start to make tiny steps towards those very things??
I took this quote literally when it came to by spin bike because I literally woke up and said I AM GOING TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! Now, that is one way to wake up and get something accomplished!!!
Don’t forget, our targets/goals/dreams can be any size. I DO believe the “bigger dream, the better” because it gives us expansive room to grow, cross barriers, and keep exploring new ground. I also believe that we each achieve small victories every single day, if we pause and pay attention.
Maybe in 2021, we can become more aware of our small victories every day on our way towards our BIG dreams waiting for us on the horizon. No resolutions needed, only appreciating the good things TODAY and ready to do that very same thing TOMORROW.
Sometimes it is as simple as waking up and shifting our perspective that may begin the cascade of positive changes in our lives! Step by step, that is how ALL accomplishments/goals/targets/dreams are created and fulfilled.

#2) Deepak Chopra, with his infinite wisdom, asks us to look within for the answers we seek:

To close our eyes and visualize our hopes, dreams, goals, future AND present, without any limitations, preconceived notions, doubts, or fears. That place that resides within ourselves where nothing is impossible and therefore everything IS possible!
For those of you familiar with the idea of “living in abundance” vs. “living in lack,” this wise quote from Deepak Chopra offers a similar invitation: to come from a place of gratitude, of already “having” what we need or what we seek, and allowing life to unfold before ourselves without our worries and fears (those thoughts that appear in anticipation of disaster that 9/10 times never happen) preventing progress or new experiences.
Which means acknowledging how 2020 changed life, changed us, and challenged us, AND moving forward with eyes open, heart open, and gratitude flowing. We can be cautious and ease into 2021, rather than sprinting into the new year and attacking 47 resolutions at one time!! Yet perhaps 2021 is a chance to do things differently. To set up our mind and spirit for success by building from that place of infinite possibilities. Asking the questions “what else is possible?” and “how can I appreciate where I am right now?” And keeping the pathway a little clearer and less cluttered with our self-created stress and limitations.
You know the saying “don’t knock it ’til you try it?” Well, what about this new saying:
“DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF BEFORE YOU TRY IT!” Give yourself the chance, give yourself the time, give yourself the kindness, and give yourself the benefit of the doubt.
That place within you that already knows what is possible for YOU!!

With these empowering thoughts in mind, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!!! I wish you and your families a safe, healthy, wonderful, better, and brighter year, with appreciation towards yourselves and an open-mind of where you will go from here.
I already received my new year’s kiss from Nobie so I am SET!!!!!!

Remember, it’s all about the socks!!!!
OR maybe it’s:
Being barefoot and allowing your FOOTPRINTS to tread lightly or super noisily as you follow your path….
OR
Wearing an invisible cape….
OR
Really ANYTHING that lights you up, makes you smile, feeds your spirit, and offers you the fuel to be unapologetically you and CONQUER THE WORLD!!!!!
Find, savor, and utilize these things whenever possible and create the love, joy, and positive energy that we and this world so desperately need.
And even if 2021 brings on a full-on obstacle course, including jumping over massive hurdles and unwieldy boulders…..

….find the superhero within, shine your “rock on” hand signal, and remind yourself that what may seem impossible at first, may very well become your next MISSION COMPLETE!!!

Me in Oahu, Hawaii, June 2009 – – Testing myself and balancing on the rocks in flip-flops! π©΄π
Love and gratitude to you and bring on 2021!!! π π― β₯οΈ π« π β¨ππ π
